Narrator: For our interview segment today, we have Arashi's Sakurai Sho-san!
Sho: I think these two are the main culprits.
Narrator: Sakurai-san will tell us what exactly Ohno-san and Ninomiya-san have done after the break!

Narrator: This is Arashi's 26th single release, "Asu no Kioku" (Memories of Tomorrow). As a theme song for the drama "The Quiz Show", how does Sakurai-san, the star of the drama, feel about it?
Sho: It's a song that fits the feel of the drama perfectly, a song that follows the plot... that's how I hear it, but after listening to it, the other members said that it's an optimistic song, so... I think it's the type of song that can convey different moods to different listeners.

Narrator: Now, Sakurai-san will tell us about some private stories of their recording sessions!
Sho: Sometimes I enter the studio after the other members are done, sometimes they come in after I'm done. That sort of switching happens quite a bit.
Newscaster: Ah, I see!
Sho: Anyway, there's something like a music stand in the recording studio. That music stand has turned into an Arashi message board of sorts. I think these two are the main culprits. [points to Ohno] He wrote, "Nino, how much do you love me?" And [points to Nino] he wrote, "I love you lots." Then they added arrows and wrote, "Okay, what about you, Sho-kyun?" They were hoping I'd write something in there, but I didn't write anything. So, the music stand has turned into a message board for these two. It's really quite a sad thing.
Reporter: It's a sad thing?
Sho: Yes.

Sho: For Aiba-kun, when he comes out of the recording booth, he's covered with sweat! Makes you wonder if he does recordings the same way he does sports, right? Finally, when Matsumoto does his recording, he sings while sitting on a balance ball. In the booth, Matsujun would sing like this. "Meguri meguru..." I thought he was really cool!

Narrator: We've also asked Sakurai-san what he's into right now.

Newscaster: They're so cool~

Sho: Because of drama shootings, I have early mornings, but I always try to eat a proper breakfast. So, I buy yogurt to eat every morning, and I intend to spend the next three months finding out which kind of yogurt I like best.
Reporter: Do you have a favourite eating style?
Sho: Well... I turn solid yogurt... into something I can drink. I'd mix it up and gulp it down. I could just buy a yogurt drink, though.

Sho: It looks like we've attached stickers, too... this really has an idol feel to it, right? Don't we look like idols? It's attached to the regular version. Let me paste one on.
Newscaster: Oh! How special!
Sho: See? With this, you can make your own original CD jacket!
Sho: ... what is this?

Newscaster: Sakurai-san has given us his original CD jacket! Thank you very much!

Newscaster: By the way, Sakurai-san actually watches our show before he leaves for shootings in the morning. It clearly means that he knows of our show, and we would like to thank him for that.

Joushima: We don't really know their hierarchy,
Toma: Yes.
Joushima: when they joined and all that.
Gussan: The younger boys.
Joushima: So I think it'd be interesting for us to take a look at that.
Taichi: Oh, I see.

Joushima: We don't know the chronology, so
Toma: Yes.
Joushima: can you correct the order for us?
Toma: Sure. But um... I'm going by rough dates...
Joushima: That's fine.
Toma: Okay. Ohno-kun is...
Matsuoka: He joined the earliest, didn't he?
Taichi: Ah, Ohno-kun's the earliest?

Taichi: About Ohno-kun...

Nagase: You joined in '96.
Toma: Yes. And here, Arashi's...
Matsuoka: Matsujun, Nino, and?
Toma: Matsujun, Nino and Aiba. Yamashita joined, too.
Gussan: 1996 is an amazing year.
Toma: Isn't it? Then, Ryo-chan... Ryo-chan came in...
Gussan: Ryo-chan.
Toma: He came in around here.
Taichi: In the middle!
Toma: In the middle, or sometime in '97.
Matsuoka: Ryo-chan.
Toma: Koki joined pretty early, too.
Matsuoka: Like five brothers.
Toma: Next was Kame and Jin...
Matsuoka: So it's been about ten years, huh?
Toma: Yes. I'm not sure about the rest.

Joushima: Are you good friends with anyone?
Toma: With Matsujun...
Matsuoka: You went to the same school, didn't you?
Toma: Yes, we did. I have meals with Yamashita, too...
Gussan: So you're good friends with those who joined in the same year.
Toma: That's right.
Matsuoka: Who joined in the same year as you, Joushima-san? Was there anyone?
Joushima: They all quit...
Nagase: You made such a sad face!!

[What kind of person is Ikuta Toma?]

Yamapi: Toma's a passionate guy. I've known him since I was eleven, but until we went to junior high, I didn't really like his fervour. Sometimes we had to perform in the same music programme. Once, the stylist told us to leave one button open. The minute I opened two buttons, he said, "Why the hell are you opening an extra button!? Don't you know the meaning of ONE button!?" We had lots of fights like that. After we grew up, and we met again, he inspired me greatly, and my dislike for him turned to respect. If the stylish decided it should be one button, we should follow that decision.
Matsuoka: So trivial!
Yamapi: I was in the wrong.

Matsuoka: That's great, very matured.
Nagase: I can see how you're passionate, too.
Toma: Yes. I'm very picky, you see. Even for concerts, too. Like, we're told to wear white shoes for this song. For the next song, we had to wear black. But Yamashita's a pretty shoddy guy, so he wanted to wear black for all the songs. I told him it wouldn't fit with everyone else, and we got into a huge argument.
Taichi: Sounds like a good friendship.
Gussan: It does.
Toma: We're like childhood friends.

Joushima: We hear you go over to Matsujun's place often, too.
Toma: I do! I've known Matsujun for a long time as well...
Joushima: Because you joined at the same time, right?
Toma: That's right. Whenever I go to Matsujun's place, he'll usually give me cold noodles to eat.
Matsuoka: Matsujun likes cold noodles?
Toma: He loves them.
Matsuoka: Ah, I see.
Toma: He always has them in his place. He'll boil some for me and offer a plate.
Taichi: Did you guys talk about me?
Matsuoka: Hold on a second!
Taichi: When you talk about work, do you bring up how much you respect me?
Nagase: I don't get you!
Matsuoka: Do you want them to say that to you?
Toma: We don't talk about you when we're together. We don't. But! A while back, we had a juniors concert in Nagoya or someplace. At some point, a staff member came to our dressing room. We wondered what was going on. Your single "Message" got first place, seven years after your debut, didn't it?
Joushima: Yes.
Toma: He came to our dressing room to make that announcement. That TOKIO got the top spot for the first time. After that, all of us, including the agency people, cheered like mad. We were like, "YAY!"
Taichi: I feel kind of bad...
Nagase: We're so sorry.
Matsuoka: To think that... To think that...
Tom: No no!!
Matsuoka: To think that our juniors were so concerned about us...
Taichi: So you guys were glad we FINALLY got first place...
Toma: No, no, no!
Taichi: I bet you were thinking, "Now we can finally debut, too!"
Matsuoka: Of course!

Toma: I first interacted with you guys when... um, I was doing a show with the juniors, and I was supposed to get an inside scoop on you.

Toma: I was supposed to say, "Hi TOKIO--"

Toma: In your dressing room. "Hi TOKIO, please give me a scoop on the group!" I said. And all of you really gave me inside scoops that we couldn't air on television.
Taichi: But you asked us for a scoop! We would've changed accordingly if you had asked for scoops appropriate for television!
Toma: You're all adults, you should know better!!
Nagase: How were we supposed to know!?

Gussan: You know, after you and Matsuoka worked in a drama together, he'd recognize you and call you by your first name, so it feels like he's having a good friend coming down today,
Joushima: I agree, we have that image, right?
Gussan: and we start to feel the same way.
Nagase: Like we're familiar with each other, right?
Joushima: Did Matsuoka care for you when you worked together?
Toma: Yes, he really did! Really.
Matsuoka: When? For "Love and Peace"?
Toma: We worked together three times. Twice for dramas, and once for a stageplay. After we're done with shooting, Matsuoka-kun would ask me out for dinner, and take me to restaurants he frequents. So he really looked after me.

Gussan: We were in Australia.
Matsuoka: Ahhh, I see! That's Kanjani8's Murakami, right?
Toma: Right, Murakami was there too. We were in Koichi's TV show, and at one point, we had to go to Australia. Yamaguchi-kun joined us as a guest,
Gussan: Yes, yes.
Toma: so we were there for about a week.
Gussan: That was fun, wasn't it?
Joushima: This sort of interaction happens often, huh?

Matsuoka: Do Leader and Toma interact, though?
Toma: No, we don't.
Joushima: Wait, what about the other two?
Taichi: We totally interact with him.
Toma: I play indoor soccer with Taichi-kun, and sometimes Nagase-kun joins us...
Nagase: We play soccer together.
Taichi: But you don't interact with him at all, do you?
Joushima: No, I don't...
Toma: Um... we barely talk to each other.
Taichi: When he came to the dressing room to say hello today, he asked if you were around, and we said yes. When we told you he was here, he said, "I look forward to working with you!" And all you said was, "What's this? Ah ah ah ah..."

So the new Sherlock Holmes trailer with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law is out. Iiii don't really know what to make of it. I see what they mean by holding a magnifying glass over the characters and highlighting the more obscure facts, like Holmes knowing some form of martial arts and all that, but uh. Yyeah. On its own, it looks pretty good, and I do like Robert Downey Jr, but I really don't know how to feel about it as an action-filled steam punk Sherlock Holmes adaptation. |D;;
